Unexpected adoption!

Don, One of our Technicians was out camping with his family for a few days when they stumbled upon a cat out in the woods. They fed it and the rest is history! It followed them around the rest of the trip and they knew that they couldn't leave her out there. Seeing as the whole family became attached basically instantly they knew their was no other choice than to bring her home! A few days into her settling in everyone was shocked to see she gave birth to 3 healthy kittens! Don's family grew by 4 in less than a week! Thanks Don and family for what you did!!!

Sharing The Warmth

For the past seven years, Lou Fusz Subaru St. Louis and Lou Fusz St. Peterā€™s have partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and St. Louis Childrenā€™s Hospital through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. On June 17th, Lou Fusz Subaru personally delivered blankets to cancer patients in treatment. ā€œI love receiving these blankets each year for our patients. I especially like that they are individually wrapped to keep them safeā€, said Emily Rothschild of St. Louis Childrenā€™s Hospital. In addition, Lou Fusz Subaru has also partnered with LLS since 2017 through support of the Light The Night walk as well as the Visionaries of the Year competition. LLS is so incredibly grateful for the support of Subaru in the St. Louis area!

Share the Love LLS Gateway Chapter

This last Friday, Lou Fusz Subaru St Louis was able to present the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Gateway Chapter with a Check for $25,000. This was our 4th year supporting them and their cause. We joined forces with our sister store in St Peters, Missouri. They were also able to raise $25,000 through their efforts in the Subaru Share the Love program. Combined, we have been able to donate over $216,400 over the last 4 years. When we give to this organization, we know we are doing good for our local community, our local children, and providing hope and health to the many children who suffer from blood cancer. These donations make possible the treatments and care that local children with blood cancers receive. This organization is also near and dear to our heart because we have salesman here, Ignacio Gomez, who has overcome non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Thank you to all the customers that helped us raise this money for such a great cause.

Subaru Loves to Learn

Subaru believes that all students deserve an equal and fair opportunity at a quality education. Thatā€™s why we are continuing our partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org to make a difference in the lives of even more students this year. Millions of students in high-needs schools lack the supplies and learning materials necessary to be successful in the classroom. In fact, 92% of classrooms have students whose families cannot afford to purchase any school supplies for their children, often requiring teachers to purchase resources using their own money. Subaru and our retailers are continuing our support of education and high-needs schools in our communities through Subaru Loves Learning by providing teachers across the country with funding to purchase the school supplies and resources they know are most needed to help students thrive in the classroom. Through this partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Subaru and its retailers will have supported more than 470,000 students nationwide and are proud to be the largest corporate supporter of AdoptAClassroom.org. Lou Fusz Subaru St. Louis adopted 15 classrooms at Hazelwood North Middle School this year and couldn't have been more excited to see how much the students and teachers both appreciated the supplies!

Unexpected rescue!

On her way to work one day one of our Managers (Jessica) got a call from a neighbor saying they found a litter of kittens in the neighbor and asked if Jessica had any ideas on what to do. Being as we have a very close relationship with multiple local rescues, Jessica reached out to the first one (the one she had personally rescued a puppy from) and they were more than happy to take in the litter of kittens and mom of course. In the meantime Jessica took them all home to make sure they were warm and that momma cat could take care of the little ones without worry of the elements. Later that day they made it in to Straw Paw Rescue where shortly after all were given a clean bill of health and all including mom were rescued!

Random Acts of Kindness

Here at Lou Fusz Subaru we like to randomly do good things throughout the community! This time we decided to drop off Raising Canes to our local Firefighters and Police for lunch. Needless to say they all were very thankful for this. It is always a great feeling to be able to be in a position to surprise others, especially those who give so much to help within the community. Thanks to all the first responders out there!

Firefighters eat too

We recently had a milestone anniversary at our dealership in St Louis. A milestone anniversary is where the dealership recognizes the longevity of an employee at the store. They are done in 5 year increments. This specific milestone anniversary was for an employee that was celebrating 35 years at the store. The day of the luncheon, the entire staff, along with ownership, celebrated the milestone for our employee. A very nice lunch was catered in for everyone. When the lunch was done, we realized we had bought too much food, and there were going to be plenty of leftovers. Knowing it couldn't all possibly fit in the refrigerator, our General Sales Manager decided that we should donate the food to someone that could use it. He had heard a statistic that about a third of all food cooked for Thanksgiving goes uneaten. We didn't want that to be the case with these leftovers. We initially called shelters but did not have any luck. In the end, we thought it would be a good idea to bring it to our local fire department. Firefighters usually have long shifts at the fire house, and they cook for themselves there, and they have a kitchen. When we arrived at the fire station, the crew was just getting ready to head out to a training session. When they saw we had food containers, they all jumped out of the firetruck and came over to us. They were the nicest fire fighters you could imagine. They were so grateful for the food and posed for a picture with our General Sales Manager. It was a great feeling to know the food went to someone that would use it and we were happy that we could help our first responders that take care of our city!

Subaru Loves to Help!

Imagine having to go without something as simple as a pair of socks. Itā€™s something many of us have never had to consider, but for millions of people experiencing homelessness each year, many of whom are children, this is often a reality they face. Subaru and its retailers helped to support those in need by providing one of the most requested items by shelters, socks. This small item that most of us take for granted, can truly have an enormous impact by providing comfort and maintaining the health of those who are experiencing homelessness. Through the Subaru Loves to HelpĀ® initiative, Subaru and our retailers have donated over 500,000 pairs of new socks, 50,000 of which are youth socks, along with 100,000 warm blankets for adults and children experiencing homelessness. Our contribution for Lou Fusz Subaru was 1000 socks donated to St. Patricks in St. Louis MO

100 Year Flash Flood...

On July 26th, 2022, St. Louis, MO had a 100-year flood drop 8-9 inches of rain in 7 hours, breaking a 107-year record. Highways were impassible, basements were flooded, and residents were stranded awaiting water rescues. One of local animal shelters, Stray Paws Rescue, had up to 3 feet of water in their facility. Unfortunately, the storm hit so quickly, some of their resident animals did not make it. This was devastating to so many people in this area, us included. Lou Fusz Subaru St. Peters immediately reached out to Stray Paws to see what they needed. As soon as we got the list, we posted on our social media asking for help. For the next 2 weeks we collected dog and cat food, additional kennels, 7 trash bags full of blankets, as well as miscellaneous items that were lost in the flood. All these items came from our employees, customers, and our local community. We filled up an entire Subaru Ascent full of the items we collected and headed to the shelter. As we were dropping off the supplies, we also donated $3,500 to their rebuilding efforts. While our donations helped address the immediate need, the bigger issue was their facility. While there, we were given a tour of the building and saw firsthand the devastation the flood had caused. After seeing this, we went from donating supplies to assisting in their rebuilding effort. First on the list was replacing the drywall which our local Home Depot graciously donated. As soon as we got back to the dealership our GSM John Molloy called a family member that does drywall to see if he would be interested in helping. Without hesitation, that family member volunteered his time to replace all the drywall! In total, our efforts saved them $4,500 in materials and labor! The last piece that we were able to help with were their custom shirts for their fundraising efforts. Their supplier fell through, so we connected them with our local partner. The rebuilding effort is still underway but weā€™re happy to say all of their animals have been placed in foster homes and are safe and sound! "Thank you, Lou Fusz Subaru, for the check, food, and blankets. They have been reaching out since day 1 figuring out ways to help us and we couldn't be more appreciative." -Stray Paws

Zero Waste promises filled at St. Louis Earth Day Festival!

Lou Fusz Subaru sponsored all Zero Waste Stations at the St. Louis Earth Day Festival in 2022, which had over 15,000 attendees. Due directly to Subaru's commitment to zero waste, the Festival was able to achieve a 93% waste diversion rate from the landfill - an incredibly difficult feat for an event with thousands of attendees! Waste stations educate the public about what items are recyclable and what is compostable, trying to divert as much as possible from the landfill without adding any contamination to the recycling stream. The 2022 St. Louis Earth Day Festival Diversion rate was the highest in the Festival's history due to a combination of vendor education ahead of time to remove disposables from booths, volunteer training for Zero Waste Booth staff, and Subaru's ongoing commitment to promoting the ethos of waste reduction in the St. Louis Region. Subaru's community commitment to waste reduction mirrors its commitment to waste reduction in its factory processes and the creation of the first zero waste automotive assembly plant in the US. Earthday365 salutes Subaru's commitment to sustainability and its leadership within the St. Louis environmental movement by its ongoing sponsorship of the St. Louis Earth Day Festival!

Subaru & LLS Bring Warmth to Local Patients!

On Friday, June 24, 2022, the St. Louis office of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Lou Fusz Subaru - St. Louis and Lou Fusz Subaru St. Peterā€™s had the pleasure of delivering 140 blankets and 20 arts & craft kits to St. Louis Childrenā€™s Hospital as part of the Subaru Loves To Care program. These comforting gifts were accompanied by personalized messages of hope written by the customers and staff of both Subaru locations. This incredible act of generosity was warmly received by the St. Louis Childrenā€™s Hospital staff who were thrilled to distribute these gifts to their patients. Melody DeWeese, the Special Events Coordinator at Childrenā€™s, thanked the Subaru team for another wonderful donation year and had this to say: ā€œThis is one of the most favorite things we give to our patients every year. We look forward to this donation and giving the blankets to patients every year.ā€ LLS is proud to partner with Subaru to spread hope, love and warmth to those fighting cancer, across the country and right here in the St. Louis community. We look forward to hosting our Subaru friends at Light The Night in October!

The Foundation provides the leadership, funding, and support needed for successful annual toy collection and distribution campaigns.

Light the Night!

Every year Lou Fusz Subaru participates in Light the Night! The Leukemia & Lymphoma SocietyĀ® (LLS) is a global leader in the fight against cancer. The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world, provides free information and support services, and is the voice for all blood cancer patients seeking access to quality, affordable, coordinated care.

Providing Second Chances to Animals in Need

The Humane Society of Missouri has had the great fortune to be the beneficiary of Lou Fusz Subaru's Share the Love program. Donations from Lou Fusz's two St. Louis retailers in St. Louis and St. Peters have participated in fundraising programs to benefit our shelters for close to a decade. Thousands of dollars have been raised to help fund adoptions, provide urgent medical care to animals in our shelter, and invest in behavioral programs that dramatically increase the chance of shelter pets finding lasting, loving homes. We are truly grateful for this partnership!

Pay it forward

Lou Fusz Subaru wanted to do something for the community to show that not only is Lou Fusz and Subaru active in their communities, but that they are also more than a car company. We wanted to find a way to give back. After several ideas were thrown around, we come up with what we "coined" Lou Fusz Subaru Happy Hour. We had all heard about drive thru windows where a customer decides to pay for the car behind them. Everyone loves a free meal, especially when it isn't expected. So, we decided to pick a random drive thru, and pay for every customer's meal for an hour. We had a great time, and the customers were excited that they were getting a meal for free. The Manager of the establishment was very appreciative as well. When the hour was up, the owner actually gave us a free meal. Talk about paying it forward.... Also, we stopped by our local Fire Department and Police Department, and brought them both food as well. Everyone was appreciative, and it felt good to be able to do something positive for our community. We have decided this is going to be something we do on a continual basis, so keep your eyes peeled for the Lou Fusz "Happy Hour Mobile"!

55 Basset Hounds Rescued From Horrible Conditions

In early October, The Humane Society of Missouriā€™s Animal Cruelty Task Force (ACT) removed 55 Basset Hounds and Basset mixes from the residence of a suspected breeder in Franklin County, Missouri. The dogs, ranging in age from a few months to 10 years or more, were found in varying stages of malnutrition and filth--many housed in crates and sitting in their own feces and urine. The dogs were brought to the Humane Society of Missouri where they underwent treatment for a multitude of medical issues, as well as intense socialization for some who had never been handled by humans before. Thanks to our corporate partners, like Lou Fusz Subaru, HSMO was able to rehabilitate the dogs and make them available for adoption. Many of them have already found their forever homes, and many more will soon. Donations from Subaru's Make A Dog's Day campaign mean that many more animals in need will get the loving care they deserve, and eventually find their forever homes.

More Good at Lou Fusz Subaru in Creve Coeur, MO!

I've been on the road for over two years now in my mother's old 2008 Subaru Outback compiling stories of human kindness to create a book I plan to donate to hospital waiting rooms. I lost my mother to cancer five years ago and this mission is in her honor. She was an extremely positive person who radiated kindness and always told me, despite whatever tragedies we would inevitably face, that there would always be More Good out there if we looked. I've been finding it across the U.S. and arrived at my 34th state, hitting 30,000 miles this past week. I stay in homes of people, mostly strangers, who support my mission. It is how I budget since I could never afford to stay in hotels, and also how I find comfort by connecting to people in the communities where I stay. When I arrived at my 115th home in Creve Coeur last week my host knew I was in need of new tires and reached out to the local Subaru in her town. They graciously gifted me four new tires. I can't tell you how much this has meant to me as I am constantly budgeting the mission on kindness. I have no sponsor, simply sponsored by kindness which has kept me on the road all along. Very grateful for this kindness from Lou and the team here in Creve Coeur especially John Molloy who made it all come together. The simple acts of kindness I have received along the way has made this mission mean so much more to me on a personal level. The mission is one to spread more good, compile more good, and highlight it....and this week I received some myself! I can't thank this local dealership enough for their support.

During the month of June, Subaru is partnering with LLS to bring blankets and craft kits to local cancer patients as part of the Subaru Loves to Care program, spreading love, hope, and warmth. The nurses will distribute the blankets and craft kits to their patients over the next few weeks. Thank you Lou Fusz Subaru for sharing the love! The Gateway Chapter of the LLS would also like to thank Lou Fusz ā€“ St. Louis for realizing the impact that they have on the community and for honoring LLS as their Hometown Charity! LOU FUSZ SUBARU LOVES TO CARE

Lou Fusz Subaru, St.Louis and the LLS Gateway Chapter met on July 12th to deliver 80 blankets and 10 craft kits to St. Louis Childrenā€™s Hospital. As soon as we arrived we could tell this was going to be a special delivery! Joe R., a dedicated LLS volunteer for over 10 years, was recognized and hospital staff surrounded him and took photos. Christy, a Music Therapist and recent proud Subaru owner, enthusiastically joined us exclaiming ā€œI LOVE MY NEW SUBARU!ā€ and shook hands with all the Subaru staff including Dave Arbogast, General Sales Mgr. We were given a tour of some favorite spots in the hospital by Whitney, from the St. Louis Childrenā€™s Foundation and Megan, Child Life Supervisor. First stop was the Sibling Playroom! We gave out blankets to the siblings of patients who accompany their parents to the hospital while their siblings are being treated. The room was busy with 10 very active children. Marquise, a Subaru team member, went over to one little boy, picked him up, gave him a blanket, and was talking with him. We all were impressed with how Marquise was interacting with the child! Turns out they are cousins! It was just a coincidence Marquise was there that day. We toured the Ronald McDonald Room, Child Life Playroom, Teen Lounge, and the beautiful Olson Family Rooftop Garden. We were so welcomed and shown such gratitude by everyone. Gateway LLS was proud to partner with Lou Fusz Subaru St. Louis for a very special delivery. Subaru Loves to Care, Indeed!
